Department of Computer Science

INTRODUCTION

Capstone Projects allow the student to identify and develop a project that puts into practice the leadership skills and competencies learned during the courses of study. Students which are enrolled with CECOS University of IT & Emerging Sciences in the program of Bachelors of Computer Science (BSCS/BSSE/BSAI/BSCybSec) is required to complete a final year project in final year of their studies, students can select one of the three provided streams by Faculty of CS & IT.

Every student undertaking the Capstone Projects stream will be required to complete the project under the supervision of the Computer Science academic staff (Teacher/ Design Coach) or an external supervisor from the industry.

A group of 2 to 3 students or 4 in exceptional cases undertake a design challenge project in real life environment related to software/IT managerial and organizational problems that need solutions.

The Project will enable students to:

  • Organize Interviews for empathizing
  • Define the problems
  • Ideate the possible solution
  • Develop a prototype and clarifying the problem
  • Refining the prototype and validate the solution through testing

Events

The Management Committee

The Capstone Project Committee will be comprised of eleven key members, the purpose of this committee is to provide overall strategic direction, guidance and monitoring of all the processes. Three Research Clusters exist by the approval of HoD (Clusters)

CLUSTER 1

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence enables machines to mimic human intelligence and perform tasks autonomously.

Machine Learning

Machine learning allows machines to learn from data and improve without explicit programming.

Deep Learning

Deep learning utilizes neural networks with multiple layers to model and understand complex data patterns.

Digital Image Processing

Digital image processing applies algorithms to enhance and analyze digital images.

Computer Vision

Computer vision enables machines to interpret and understand visual information from images and videos.

CLUSTER 2

Application Development

Application development is the process of designing, creating, and deploying software applications for various platforms.

Web Development

Website development is the process of building and maintaining websites, involving aspects like web design, content creation, and programming.

Game Development

Game development is the process of designing, creating, and programming video games for various platforms.

CLUSTER 3

Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the network of interconnected devices that communicate and share data over the internet, enabling smart environments and automation.

Computer Networks

Computer networks are systems that connect computers and devices to share resources and information.

Cyber-The security

Cyber security is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and data from theft, damage, and unauthorized access.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services, such as storage, processing, and networking, over the internet, allowing for on-demand access and scalability.

Project Scope

Capstone Projects undertaken by the students revolve around the areas where organizations require in‐depth analysis of any critical problem at hand, these could be:

  • Software Development: include mobile application and web application which based on Cyber Security/Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning/ Information Security/Human Computer Interaction/ Image Processing /Data Science
  • Legacy Software Re-Engineering
  • Software Testing
  • New Ventures / Feasibility Studies
  • Software Development Life Cycle
  • Web 3.0

Capstone Projects can scope over multiple or one functional areas e.g. Software Development, Software Architecture, Software lifecycle, legacy software Re-Engineering, with implementation of databases.
